Theft of a €300,000 watch from tennis player Sebastian Korda
Sebastian Korda would no doubt like to quickly forget his experience at the Monte Carlo 2024 Masters 1000. Two days before the start of the tournament, on April 4, the 23-year-old American tennis player was the victim of a robbery, according to a report in Nice-Matin confirmed by France Bleu Azur.
The incident occurred on a staircase linking Avenue de France to Avenue Varavilla, not far from the courts. Two people in helmets jumped out, immobilized him and robbed him of a luxury watch valued at around 300,000 euros. The thieves quickly fled on a scooter and are currently being sought by the authorities.
Although not injured, the player, ranked 27th in the world, was deeply shocked. Despite the incident, he competed in the tournament, where he was defeated in the second round by Italy’s Jannik Sinner with scores of 1-6, 2-6. The investigation into this attack, considered rare in the region, is being carried out by the Menton police station.
