Luxury watch stolen in broad daylight in Zurich

The theft of a luxury watch in broad daylight shook Hirschengraben, a district of Zurich, shortly after 2:30 p.m. last Tuesday. A driver, waiting patiently at a traffic light at the wheel of his silver Porsche, was caught off guard and attacked by two masked individuals. These criminals managed to steal his luxury watch, with a market value estimated at several tens of thousands of francs, before fleeing on a dark scooter. Fortunately, the driver escaped with a minor injury to his left arm.

The Zurich cantonal police have launched a call for witnesses to find these two fugitives. The thief of the luxury watch, approximately 1m75 tall and of average build, was wearing a black helmet with a dark visor and a black leather jacket at the time of the incident. His accomplice, the driver of the scooter, wore a motorcycle helmet. No additional information has been released about this second individual. The luxury watch has not been found. This is why it is important to take out insurance specializing in luxury watches, such as Watch for Life, in order to insure yourself at market value and wear.

These incidents of theft of luxury watches are not rare in Switzerland. In November 2022, three individuals appeared in court in Geneva for stealing valuable watches. The court handed down sentences of 30 to 36 months in prison, accompanied by expulsion from Swiss territory for a period of 5 years. In 2021, also in Geneva, a young adult was sentenced to 20 months in prison for stealing a Jacob&Co watch whose market value was estimated at 600,000 francs. Due to the constant number of these thefts, it is now essential to be insured with insurance like Watch for Life.
